物流：logistics原为军事用语,指后勤补给,从军事科学的观点看,包括有关军用物资、设备、人员等的采购、生产、储存、维修、运送等活动。物流在台湾亦有人翻译成运筹,但中国内地所称的运筹指台湾的作业研究(operation research),二者对运筹的定义有相当大的差异。物流的范围包含物料管理和实体配送管理。广义的物流可定义为原料物流、生产物流、销售物流与废弃物物流,狭义的物流可定义为销售物流。以下为各家的定义:1.台湾物流协会对物流的定义为:物流是物品流通活动的行为,在流通过程中,通过管理程序有效结合运输、仓储、包装、流通加工、信息等相关物流机能性活动,以创造价值、满足客户及社会需求。2.美国物流管理学会(Council of Logistics Management)对物流的定义为:Logistic is the process of planning, implementing and controlling the efficient, cost-effective flow and storage of raw materials, in-process inventory, finished goods and related information from point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements.中文的意思为:物流是为了满足客户的需求,在有效率及适当成本下,对原料、在制品、成品和相关信息从产出点到消费点的流动和储存,进行规划、执行与管制的过程。3.美国学者Douglas M.Lambert在其所著一书《Fundamentals of Logistics：Management》1998年版中,认为Logistics亦称为商业物流(business logistics),渠道管理(channel management),配送(distribution),物流管理(logistical management),物料管理(materials management),实体配送(physical distribution),快速响应管理(quick-response management),供应链管理(supply chain management),供应管理(supply management)。4.美国学者Ronald H.Ballou在其所作一书《Business Logistics：Management》1999年第四版中,认为物流为运输、存货、订单处理、物料搬运等,和生产(production)重叠的部分为采购、生产排程、物流中心或仓库位置等,和营销(marketing)重叠的部分为价格、包装、零售点、客户服务水准等。5.美国学者John J. Coyle在其所作一书《Transportation》2000年第五版中,认为Logistics加上信息科技、销售、财务则成为供应链管理(supply,228Logistics,chain management)。
